Would like to get some input from folks out there about how they are seeing the global recession affect the geospatial industry. As a small business owner, I am a little bit insulated from the more dramatic impacts that larger businesses seem to be experiencing. However, I have seen a decrease in activity, primarily in the local government and non-profit sector (which are the two primary sectors I deal with).
Three people in the GIS/RS field lost their jobs just this week due to funding drying up from state governments (one in Oregon two in Calif.). My wife has been out her Remote Sensing field for two years and has a helluva time getting back into it.
